    The Passion of Christ

    April 2nd 3PM

    April 6th 7PM

Mel Gibson co-wrote, co-produced and directed this controversial but powerful interpretation of the final hours in the life of Jesus. The film, with dialogue in Hebrew, Latin and Aramaic, sparked charges of anti-Semitism, and was denounced by some critics for its excessive violence. In the crucifixion scene, Gibson's hands nail Jesus to the cross.

  • Vintage Theatre + Modern Cinema

We've set the stage, now we're bringing down the BIG screen. Witness the revival of the Martin Movie House at Theatre Dublin.

The BIG Screen + Dolby 7.1 Digital Surround Sound

The latest in sight + sound technology in the comfort of our historic theatre.

When we say big, we mean BIG. No expense was spared when designing the cinematic experience for Martin Movie House at Theatre Dublin. Our state-of-the-art digital projection system features a custom 40 foot wide seamless retractable screen - by far the nicest you'll find in the state of Georgia. The BIG screen combined with our 15-speaker motion-driven digital surround sound system will immerse every inch of our 620-seat theatre in a rich visual and sound experience.

    The Backstory

Reliving history to set the stage for the future.

The Martin, affectionately known through the years as "The Martin" or just simply "the downtown theater," was built in 1934 and operated as a movie house until it closed in the late 70's.

Through the years after closing it was used by a civic theatre group and at one point was used as a cotton warehouse. The movie house sat empty so long a pond filled the stage end of the building.

Enter The Martin's knights in shining armor. In the mid nineties, the old theatre’s saving grace came along in the form of several benevolent local businessmen and an entire community that rallied behind them. Together they all worked to save the historic theatre from demolition.

Renovated and re-branded, Theatre Dublin opened its doors in 1995 as a premier performing arts center in the heart of Downtown Dublin. Now entering its third decade since renovation, Theatre Dublin has solidified its place as a treasured landmark. The revival of Martin Movie House at Theatre Dublin will not only create a dual-purpose venue- serving performing arts and film - but a truly dynamic backdrop for arts and culture. There are still countless memories to be made at The Martin.

    The Martin Experience

So, what can you see on the BIG screen? Well, we've got it all.

    The glorious hardware.

The Martin experience is one like no other. With our forty foot state-of-the-art BIG screen you'll feel like you're a modern day moviegoer stepping back into the early days of The Martin. The 7.1 Dolby digital surround sound speakers accompanied by their two impressive subwoofer sidekicks will completely immerse you in the cinema experience. First runs, classics, movie marathons...Martin Movie House will have it all.

An experience any family could afford.

Our ticket prices are jaw drop worthy. Maybe we can't match a 10-cent matinee, but we can try our best -- because, hey, we're doing this for the fun of it. And with super competitive ticket prices, there's no doubt you will ever wonder if it's worth taking a step over to the concession stand. Always open and ready, our concession stand is waiting to fill your craving of warm, buttery popcorn and ice cold Coca-Cola. Did we mention loaded chili cheese nachos and soft pretzels? Oh yeah, we're doing it. With competitive pricing that encourages family outings and great date nights, there's no more breaking the bank to see a movie on a quality screen.

    Let's time travel.

The experience doesn't stop there. With Martin Staff and attendants dressed in classic movie house uniform, bow tie and all (complete with a smile, of course) and light music playing outside on the sidewalks and in the lobby, you will step back in time to great service and an unbeatable atmosphere, while still having a state-of-the-art cinema experience.
